This second outing from the Berliners is frankly flawless. Lord knows why it's impossible to get hold of, but it's a case of beg, borrow or steal. If you're not singing along to King Kong Is Not Dead, Fade Out and the wonderful October after one listen you are a mute or deaf or quite possible mad.

Do you love music to the extent when you have certain tracks connected with certain periods of your life? Do you have the feeling there's this special kind of music that fits for becoming a soundtrack of your life...? I do. Naomi is a German indie electronic duo making this kind of music. Pappelallee is the band's second - and I believe the best (out of three) - studio album. Even though each track on Pappelallee is very different from the other, the album still manages to stay in a single piece. It sounds cozily epic - each track is not universally but personally vast. Absolute highlight of this LP is "King Kong is Not Dead", a sweet pop tune about very individual fears and desires which you can interpret in your own manner and relate to.

I especially like the track "October" which I've characterized as a "Leonard Cohen song as written by a couple of Germans" as well as "Fade Out" and "The Exit Song" which has one of the tastier samples of Eric Satie's "Gymnopedie."

A hidden pearl. I had this album for a while and knew it was not bad. Until I listened to it in the right state of mind and discovered how amazing it is. It can really put you in a dreamy state of mind. It reminds me of modern Depeche Mode, in a positive way.

This has become one of my kick-back-and-trip-to-the-music albums. This was my first Naomi album. I liked it so much, I bought the others. I think Pappelallee is their best album.
