They first meet on the road while hitch-hiking, discover a mutual adoration for the same songwriters, are carrying the exact same books in their bags, and are living a mere two streets apart in Hamburg. Two months later, they are sharing a rehearsal room above the dubious garage of an elderly car mechanic, start writing songs together and fiddle with their first electronic ideas. A true story. They still like to call their studio "the garage", except that the garage is now in Berlin.

Bernd Lechler and Nico Tobias were rooted in Hamburgs independent music scene before they moved to Berlin. In 2000, Naomi’s first 12inch release sees the light of day - instrumental tracks packed with quirky samples, peculiar beats and the occasional guitar. Soon they take a turn towards melancholic pop songs tinged in electronic colours, a tendency which first surfaces in their debut longplayer "Everyone Loves You", still one of the most loved albums of the chill-out/triphop/downbeat era. amnesty international use Naomi’s song "Gone" for their TV and cinema campaign featuring Franka Potente.

Pop influences and song structures become even more manifest on Naomi’s second album "Pappelallee" (2004) which also contains the small radio hit "King Kong Is Not Dead". Meanwhile, their tracks can be found on more than 70 compilations worldwide.

„Aquarium“ (2006), Naomis latest album is what Lechler and Tobias call their first „real pop record“. Few samples were used, instead they recorded guitars and electronic pianos live, reduced their arrangements until only the essence remained. Now "Tweak", a collection of new tracks and alternative versions allows a different view on Naomis approach on arrangement and production. And in "Trust" Tweak contains a single that might just be a candidate for this year's late summer hit.
